The Big Day

Please keep coming back to this page where we will let you know all about the big day itself and the pre- and after-wedding action. This will be completed as we go along booking things, so bare with us! :-)

Friday, the 10th of October

Since most of you will arrive a day earlier in Trier, we thought it would be nice to organise an event that will allow you to experience something local and original, followed by a get together with food and drink. This - of course - is not mandatory and if you prefer to do something different, please feel free to do so.

Trier and its surroundings along the river Mosel is an excellent wine growing region, particularly famous for Riesling. Wine has been grown here since Roman times, the tradition of wine growing thus is hugh and how better to experience this and the lovely wines the region has to offer than with a wine-tasting?! Our event of choice therefore is:

Wine-talk and -tasting incl. a wine cellar tour, conducted in English
at Weinstube Kesselstadt (opposite the cathedral of Trier) at 5pm on Friday
The tour will last about 1 1/2 hours and will be 12 Euro per person.

Wirtshaus
After the wine tasting we have an area reserved at Wirtshaus (Bar-restaurant) from 7pm. We had thought this may be a good place to go for food (and possibly a local beer) after the wine tasting.
The area in the Wirtshaus is reserved for up to 60 people so there will be plenty of space for anybody who would like to join us. For more information you can visit the following website http://www.wirtshaus-trier.de/en/

We would love for you to join us at either or both of these venues.

Saturday, the 11th of October

The wedding will take place at 14:00 in Gutweiler, the village Eva is from, about 15 minutes from Trier. We have a bus organised to pick everyone up from town and bring to the village. The bus will leave at 13.15 from the bus carpark beside the Porta Nigra, the big Roman city gate which you really can't miss when in Trier. Please be there 10 minutes in advance as we cannot guarantee that the bus will wait for everyone and will not be able to return once left. The ceremony will be bilingual and we hope we will be able to do both our families, friends, cultures and languages justice. :-) After the mass there will be time for congratulations/ a chat outside the church before the bus will leave and bring all of you to the restaurant Jahreszeiten (halfway between the village and Trier). We will celebrate there and dance the night away and at the end of the night taxis can be booked thorugh the reception for transfers back into town.

Sunday, the 12th of October

If you fancy meeting us on Sunday, there is a big breakfast/ brunch buffet in the Bitburger Wirtshaus (the place we were going Friday evening). We have tables for approx. 30 people booked for 11am, so if you fancy please come along or join us even later. If there is interest Eva can show you around a few places (or pubs :-) in Trier too.
